I just started riding my CARRYME SingleSpeed.  Notice that it is wobbly especially on uneven surface.   Going up a slope (even a gradual one) can be tough going but for a short joy-ride in the park where paths are relatively smooth, it's ok.  I had a fall going over a cracked pavement though Sad  Luckily I was thrown over onto the side where there is grass!  Would the DS be more accomodating in the mentioned negative points?  Just curious...  at least where there are slopes.

The small wheels, especially at high pressure (btw, recommennded pressure for carryme tires is 80 PSI) would transmit more of the vibrations to you. Sometimes, you gotta trust your bike, and keep your handlebar straight. I've not seen a carryme go over grass field successfully before, but that's not what it was designed for.

DS gives you speed increase, not granny gear. The schlumpf speed drive (got mountain drive and high speed drive) increases your gear by 1.6. Assuming that the higher the gear ratio the less able to tackle uneven surfaces and slopes, the DS would not help much at all.

Wobbly?  It is normal because contact patch (surface of tire that touch the road) is very small.  Small patch is due to tyre design to reduce cycling effort.  The more u ride, the more u r familiar wif its handling characteristic.  As long as u understand its handling characteristic, u could handle cracked pavement & 1-2 inch kerb.  The only pre-caution u need to take is not to cycle when d road is wet.

Negative points? I don't think so.  Without small contact patch, it will take more effort to cycle.  Without its small wheel, it is no longer a Carry Me.  It is very fun bike which i like it a lot.  Juz no time to cycle it.

You just need to get use to this bike with a little bit more practice. when riding on uneven road lean a little forward to prevent the front from lifting.
I have ridden this bike on gravel roads and sandy patches in Sg. Rengit, in Malacca with Strida Malacca ride (hope to have another trip with the group).
2 days rode to Sg. Rengit again and rode about 70km. Once you get the hang of this bike you will enjoy it. In fact my young son refuse to trade in this bike for a Brompton. Grin
